Promotional Models are hired to promote a product, brand or service. They interact directly with the consumer and rather than a photo or commercial YOU do the advertising in person.

romo Models can be male or female and are normally between the age of 17-40, however the majority of the work calls for people under the age of 30.
To cut it at promotional work you need to be;
- Smart
- Energetic
- Outgoing
- Have good manners and clear speech
- Good at communicating and professional at all times.
- Most important is to beĀ RELIABLE!
The aim of the client is to promote a successful and friendly image with the models attracting the right kind of attention to the company. Promotional models are typically attractive; they need to look good for hours without the help of a make-up artist.
Ok so sometimes it won't be the most glam job you've done but the money is good and it's all experience to add to your CV, and at least your not doing the same job day in day out.
Typical job descriptions are:
- Distribute Samples for companies i.e. chocolates, perfumes, toothpaste, etc.. This could be in your local town or at an event i.e. exhibition.
- Distribute Promotional flyers or vouchers this could be in your local town or door to door or at an event.

Grid girl, brolly dollies are used to promote a brand at a motor car/bike event, this normally involves wearing an outfit with the racers sponsors on and hanging around looking good! Getting yourself pictured with the team. Girls who do this get a little press coverage and can sometimes be seen on T.V if the event is broadcasted.
Card Girl, Ring Girls are seen at boxing matches they can also get a little press coverage and sometimes be seen on T.V. They walk around the ring holding a board with the round number on, As well as getting photographed and acting as a team member you could be asked to hold a flag or even the boxer's belt!
Host/Hostesses are used for things like store openings or premiers, you will normally find them at the entrance. Their role is to welcome people, sometimes offer a drink and show or guide them.
Demonstrators are used to demonstrate how a product works eg mobile phone, computer, tools. They normally work at trade exhibitions or in store. Some companies that use promotional models for demos give you training on the product which you are paid for, if you have training in products this can lead to ongoing work as it is impressive to be a promo model with product knowledge.
